Introduction

Introduction

We monitor renewable energy opportunities closely and take a hands-on approach at every stage of the project value chain, from the bidding process, tender preparation, feasibility study, environmental impact assessment study, permits, tender design, procurement and project financing, to construction and operations. Our projects are designed for optimal long-term operations.

We target countries with a sustainable energy framework and untapped potential, with an initial focus on hydropower. Hydropower is a unique renewable energy resource combining low operating cost and flexibility, which is required with a growing share of intermittent electricity in the grid system.

Renewable energy projects can be a positive force for global, national and local communities. We view electricity as critical to economic development and believe renewable energy projects represent a development opportunity which should lead to healthy financial returns for the investors, as well as tangible gains for the stakeholders involved.

The management team behind Clean Energy Group has extensive experience in developing renewable energy projects and has previously planned and developed the 187 MW Shuakhevi Project in Georgia. The Shuakhevi Project was the first cross-border, limited resource project finance transaction with sales of electricity in Georgia and Turkey.  The Shuakhevi Project is on track to be completed Q1 2010. It is the largest hydro project to have been developed in Georgia since independence and the first project in Georgia to be registered through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), generating 265 000 Certified Emission Reductions (CER’s) per annum, equivalent to 265 000 tons of CO2.
